About Dhamma Upavana

Dhamma Upavan meaning "Dhamma Garden" is located at Bara Chakia in Northern Bihar about 50 km from Muzaffarpur, 56 km from Vaishali, and 85 km. from Raxaul (Nepal Border). The Center can accommodate about 20 male and 12 female students at present and courses are offered in all major foreign languages.

Bara Chakia is such a sacred place where Pujya Guruji had taken three gypsy courses between 1970 to 1972, in his early days after coming to India. During these courses, the land of present center was offered to built a center here.

Kesaria Stupa, the one of the largest stupas in the world, is located about 23 km from here. Huen Tsang has mentioned in his travelogue about this stupa. Some important aspects of Lord Buddha's Life are associated with Kesaria. It is known that Buddha spent a night at this place before his Mahaparinirvana and gave his bowl to the people of Vaishali.
